This is the second post in our series about Apps. Each Wednesday, we look at apps that we like, love and have helped our business.
A couple months ago I was on the hunt for an app to help me introduce some new habits into my day for both work and personal.
For almost two and a half years I did yoga four to five times a week but about eight months ago I stopped. The stopping wasn’t all at once. It started with skipping a day here and there and before I knew it yoga had disappeared completely – except for the yoga mat propped up in the corner. It wasn’t that I didn’t think about it, it was more that I didn’t have to answer to anyone when I didn’t do it. No one was keeping track.
On the business side of things, Janice and I have been swearing that we were going to set daily priorities and taking time to blog more. It’s easy to say but week after week, we didn’t do it. We were all talk but no action.
Some of you may be saying for pete’s sake just do it. For anyone who has ever tried to quit a bad habit or start a good one, you know that’s easier said than done. Like any good iPhone owner I decided to find an app for that. I tried a few but none seemed to work for me. And then I found LIFT.
LIFT has really simple and clean design that allows you to choose from a list of habits or actions or create your own, then you check them off when you complete them. The app tracks your progress and has a notes function so you can add details about your habit. The calendar also gives you a really fantastic chart of your completed habits and also give you a little shout out when you’re on a streak.
Whether you’re wanting to start exercising, drink more water, develop good posture or writing for 30 minutes a day, it all comes back to developing the habit. There are many apps out there that can help you. You may need to try a couple to find the one that works for you. LIFT worked for me and it just might work for you too.
